LAYING OF RAILWAY LINE

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Railways have formulated any scheme for laying of a railway line in Khargone-Barwani districts of Madhya Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Railways proposed to lay the Manmad-Sendhwa via Mhow railway line during the current financial year;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which it is likely to be laid down?
ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI MANOJ SINHA)

(a) & (b): A Reconnaissance Engineering-cum-Traffic survey for new line between Khandwa- Nardana via Khargone, Sendhwa (225 km) was completed in 2004-05. As per survey report, the cost of the project was assessed as ` 520 crore with Rate of Return of (-)2.46%. In view of its unremunerative nature and large throwforward of ongoing projects, the project has not been sanctioned.

(c) & (d): A survey for Manmad-Indore via Malegaon, Dhule, Sendhwa and Mhow (339 km) has been included in the Budget for 2015-16.

(e): Since the project has not been sanctioned, no time-frame can be given.
